Thursdays on College fall concert series continues with Chris Wilson and Planet Earth

WHAT: Thursdays on College concert featuring Chris Wilson and Planet Earth
WHERE: East College Avenue, Hartsville, S.C.
WHEN: Thursday, Sept. 19, 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Chris Wilson & Planet Earth, an alternative rock guitar-and saxophone duo, will soon be arriving in Hartsville for the second of the Thursdays on College fall concert series. The event, taking place Thursday, Sept. 19 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on East College Avenue, is sponsored by Sonoco.

The group features Chris Wilson’s blues and rock-and-roll-driven style of acoustic guitar as well as saxophone solos and vocal harmonies from Joe Cardillo. The two, in their own words, “blend sounds of acoustic alt rock with soul and a touch of twang.” They kicked off their most recent tour, their fourth in the last year, with shows in Utah and Texas in August. Hartsville will serve as their last stop before they play in venues across North Carolina and then head to the Midwest. The group’s website is found at www.chriswilsonandplanetearth.com.

The Thursdays on College series, presented by the City of Hartsville and the Hartsville Downtown Development Association, began its fall season on Sept. 5 with a record crowd turning out for Terence Lonon and the Untouchables. Remaining concerts in the series include the Reggie Sullivan Band in an Oct. 3 concert sponsored by the Campus Activities Board of Coker College. Erica Lynn Berg and the Greenville-based band Wine Down will then stage the stage on Oct. 17, sponsored by First Citizens Bank and Nucor Corporation.

The event will have food and drink available for sale from Bizzell’s Food & Spirits as well as Vintage Wine Boutique. Child care services will also be available through Nana’s Play Zone, which may be reached at 843.332.7513.
